On the Eid, my kids eat a lot of sugar. A lot. It’s sort of ridiculous. But it’s Eid and I allow it. At least until someone starts complaining their belly hurts. Then they gladly forfeit their pinata loot and I get the chance to say “I told you so”. Mom – 1, Candy – 0.
This past Eid I went in a new direction; Sugar free. It worked. No one complained. There’s no worries about cavities or allergies. It works. Gold star for me.
A punching balloon, a top, glow sticks, a whistle, sparkly notebook, stickers and a custom “Eid Mubarak” pencil. That’s it.
The whistles? Seriously? That’s the last time I let Jenin help me shop.
Here are some other versions of Eid Treat Bags that I’ve done.
- The Eid Treat Bags that started them all.
- Two styles featured in this post.
- These bags feature some Silver Envelope goodies.

Salam amenah I’m thinking of making a party for my son because he memorized the first ten sorahs of quran ,I want to ask you do you have any ideas about what sort of activities I can make for the kids (3-5) I want to keep it simple yet enjoyable , thanks a lot amenah really appreciate it
Salaams Eman, MashaAllah what a special achievement! For Zaynab’s first birthday we had a charity theme. Perhaps you can do something similar to that?
Try to focus on a craft that won’t be trashed on the way home. Sometimes it’s worth it to just have one meaningful project versus several cheap disposable ones. I think highlighting your son’s memorization is key. Carve out a special time where he actually reads his surahs to your guests. This may encourage other kids to memorize Qur’an.
A potential favor can be a small bag of candy or a couple of homemade cookies with a tag indicating that you’ve donated a Qur’an (which you would have to do) to a local masjid in the child’s honor. They will reap the rewards eternally
Let me know if you want any more specific ideas.
