Love it or leave it

We don’t really celebrate Valentine’s Day at our house.  I’m not against it, just never got into it.  Chocolate and flowers should be given all year round if you ask me.

Browsing through foodgawker, these caught my eye.  How could they not? I’ve always wanted to try making whoopie pies so I figured these would be the ones.

The whole process is fairly easy. I made the cookie/cake part the night before a party.(Yes, I was sick and had a party. It seemed like the right thing to do. The rest of the guests were sick too so we were all immune to each other’s viruses.)  I realized I should have probably baked them a bit longer because they had a sligtly raw taste. Just being honest.  I don’t really know what I’m doing people, I only pretend to.

I put the batter into a large ziplock bag and piped them on to the baking sheets.  Sorry, no heart shapes for this amature. By the way, never underestimate the power of batter in a ziplock bag with the corner snipped off. It make life so much easier. I must have gone through 3 or 4.  The filling went into one too.

Almost looks professional. Almost. Not quite. I’m trying.
Would you look at these? Go ahead, keep staring. Aren’t they adorable? Aside from the raw taste, (if one could really even get past that) they were pretty good. The filling saved them.  I’ll totally make these again, correcting my mistakes. It seems I overbeatted and underbaked.  I’m still relatively new to this thing called baking.  Why do they make it look so easy??

If you know me, you know that I heart foodgawker.  Well 90% of the time I end up clicking on the images that always take me to the same food blog.  This Annie gal certainly knows what she is doing. Her images and recipes are amazing.  Check out her blog and I assure you that you’ll add at least 17 things to your “must try this week” recipe file.

    They do look good.

Unfortunately, if it doesn't come from a box, I'm not very good at baking it! Yesterday I made pancakes, and they were a flop..literally!

PaintLover I hardly know what I'm doing when it comes to baking, but I figure it's a lot easier than Middle Eastern desserts.

Check out the recipe I posted for pancakes a few weeks back. They're soooo good.
