Girls’ room

I wanted to give my daughters a playful room to grow up in. A room they would remember long after they’ve outgrown it.

From the door
Jenin’s side
The incredibly long butterfly garland, lower case j from Marshalls (or TJMaxx, can’t remember), fabric J from Anthropologie (on sale, from Iman), hokey pokey sign (also from Iman), Jenin’s name hand embroidered by my sister-in-law framed in Martha Stewart frame from Michaels (Jenin is named after the city my husband is from), and the poppy print that is my color inspiration for the whole room.
One of my favorite pieces in the room.
The headboard was $15 from a furniture wholesale warehouse. It was gold. I spray painted it black to match Maysoon’s crib to give the room a bit of a cohesive look.  It’s such a simple design that it would look so cute spray painted any other color. But this room has plenty of color so black works just fine.
Since we didn’t need to purchase anything for Maysoon and Jenin’s matress and box spring were free, I decided to buy Jenin some nice bedding.  The blue polka dot quilt set was from Overstock.  The giraffe pillow, the floral pillow and matching throw were all from Homegoods. Love, love, love that store.  The crocheted cat was on clearance at World Market.
Maysoon’s side
Paper lanterns were from Daiso, a Japanese import store, for $1.50 each.  The giraffe print was a gift from Iman purchased from etsy.  The “M” is from Micheals.  Yes, I realize that they are hung really high, but don’t forget that she’s our little Monster. I didn’t want her reaching them and pulling them down onto her.
The bedding is Pottery Barn passed down from Rayyan. Check out Iman’s blog for her daughters’ room reveal. They have the twin size version of this crib bedding.  The rug is also Pottery Barn but I got it from craigslist for $100.  It was brand new!  If you haven’t tried craigslist yet, you should.  Great things to be found.
A comfy place to nurse.  The chair was from Babies R Us as a gift from my brother-in-law when I had Jenin. The two crocheted blankets are made by my mom. Pink for Jenin, yellow for Maysoon.  The lamp was free from Iman (I can’t imagine how much more I would have in my house if we lived closer).  The giraffe is from JCPenney.  Can you tell I love giraffes?
Spray paint is a wonderful thing.  I purchased this floral wire wall hanging from Pier 1 on clearance. It was black. Now it’s “watermelon”.
The pom poms are tied on.  I’m afraid of interior design commitment.
The “closet”.  I removed the doors to make room for the dresser.  Their dresses have been moved to the hallway closet and storage has gone into the garage.  I stapled fabric to the back wall to hide the fact that I never painted it add some interest.
My dress.  The wire baskets were from a flea market.  The frog bank on clearance from Target. Pink changing pad cover was $6 from Marshalls.
Blue alphabet canvas on clearance for $10 from Babies R Us. I  made the felt chain which is just like the other one I made.  I made this for fun but it ended up here on accident.  The little chick bank was from Daiso. The headbands in the glass vase was an idea I stole from Iman.  The suitcases were another gift from Iman from Land of Nod. The shoes are the ones Jenin wore when she first started walking.  They’re dirty and I love them.
The white ceramic giraffe was picked up from Value Village while visiting Iman in Bellingham. It feels a bit Jonathan Adler to me.  The silhouette was from Disneyland.  The Arabic alphabet print was from etsy seller Waafia. It’s framed in a $3 frame with a $1 fat quarter from Walmart as the mat.
These little scallop shelves were from my mom. She’s had them forever in a cabinet, so I decided to put them to good use. Most likely they were from a garage sale.  The “M” and “J” are from Marshalls.  The top is vintage from an antique store.  The little unfinished cross stitch mouse was done by me in jr. high.
Hidden behind the chair is a large canvas laundry bag from Marshalls on clearance for $5. It’s crazy how quickly these girls fill this.  You can also see the closet tracks that Jenin hit her head on when she fell.

This all looks great. I love your comment about your phobia of committing! LOL That's me to a T (I have actually done the exact same thing with some pompom trim too!!)

I have to say that I can't seem to, well, pull my finger out when it comes to the girls' rooms. I have some beautiful bedding for both girls, but functionality has taken over!

oh, there is something I would like to eventually do over Sara's crib: I am on the look out for wall decals that I can stick, ones she can't pull down over her head! I also have an idea to stick little fabric flowers on the wall too, but that would mean some level of committment!
