April Posts on DisneyBaby
I’ve completed my first month blogging over at DisneyBaby.com! Phew! What a month it was. The great thing is that I was blogging regularly. The downside is that it wasn’t here. No worries, dear readers. This month was a learning experience. I’m well on my way to a more consistent blogging schedule over here. Bear with me, I promise it’ll be worth it. If you miss my presence over here, head over to read my posts on DisneyBaby.com. This month’s posts: Zaynab’s first experience with bubbles. A party feature of Maysoon’s First Monster Birthday Party. My favorite pictures of Baby Z on Instagram. A quick and easy recipe for some yummy baked oatmeal. A round-up of 20+ beautiful art prints inspired by … Continue reading

Little Guy, Big News
For a long time I searched for a Muslim mom voice in the blogosphere. I never found anything that clicked 100%, so I changed the direction of my own personal blog to fit that bill. I wanted to create a place for like minded Muslim moms to come and have a person to relate to and connect with. Soon moms from all over the globe were contacting me and I quickly realized it’s a small world after all. The blogosphere had a new Muslim Mom blogger voice, albeit a tiny one. What I didn’t realize was that some pretty big ears were listening. Every now and then, the circle of life (children/home/husband) would cause my blogging to pause. “You threw … Continue reading

Book Review: The Apple Tree
My daughters love to visit the library. I give them free reign over the plastic covered hardcovers and paper backs and let them fill our library bag - and their arms – to their heart’s content. We leave with plenty of fairy tales, chapter books, cookbooks, kids craft books, and picture books every time. We read and reread every last book up until – and past – the library due dates. My goal for them is to check out every single children’s book at least once. We’re well on our way. Of all the books they’ve read, nothing compares to one that they can truly relate to. One that speaks to them and brings Mama’s daily sayings and teachings to … Continue reading

Zeena Review and Giveaway
With all these giveaways, you’d think Eid was right around the corner. Oh wait, it is. Every hijabi knows the drill: Walk into a clothing store, pass the tops, and head straight for the dresses in search of a long and modest “shirt”. Except you know, and I know that it’s actually a dress. When online shopping, I don’t even bother clicking “Tops”. Straight to “Dresses” for me. Even then I’m left sorting out the ones that won’t work. Too tight on the bust, low revealing back, just plain ugly. Once we do find a dress/shirt that works, we still have to “hijabify” it. You know, add a long sleeve Tee underneath or a cardigan or jacket above to cover up … Continue reading

Minted Eid Card Review and Giveaway
We’re just getting into Ramadan and I’m already talking about Eid. It’s one of our biggest holidays, do you blame me? I’m all for things handmade and homemade when it comes to preparing for the Eid. Eid banners and gifts, sweets and treats. But when it comes to homemade Eid cards, that’s just not something I’m willing to touch. Quite frankly, I don’t have the time or the patience to sit and create cards for everyone in the family. Sure the girls can make them with their scribble drawings and illegible writing, but realistically I know the recipients would just dump them. And that’s wasteful. I don’t like wasteful. Enter the most beautiful Eid cards you’ll ever come across. Yes, Eid cards. I … Continue reading

AMM Contributor Interviews
Your chance to hear me and my fellow AmericanMuslimMom.com contributors can be found here. Just don’t mind my ultra dorky voice on slow-motion reminiscent of Macaulay Culkin reserving his hotel room with the tape recorder in Home Alone 2.

For The Love of Blogging and a Top Award
When I began blogging, my audience consisted of my two older sisters. I had to nag them to check my blog after I updated because they never remembered on their own. “Did you see it? What did you think? Isn’t that picture so cute?” As I became more comfortable with my blog, it didn’t matter whether anyone was reading it or not. Not much of a scrap booker , I enjoyed looking back on old posts and seeing things we had done or what J had said. Being a visual person, my blog became the perfect journal of our everyday. It began to shift as I found blogs that inspired me to try new recipes and attempt projects. I began … Continue reading
