The Way I See It

Colours of My Life  Photo Challenge Day 24 – A picture of something you wish you could change.

My vision.

This is exactly as I see things without my contacts or glasses.

I still remember my first eye exam.  I wasn’t calling out ” E D F C Z P” with my left eye covered. Instead it involved pictures of little houses, cats, and boats.  I still didn’t know my letters at the time since I was so young.  I’ve gone through many, many glasses. One pair were large pink frames that covered half of my face. Another favorite were the bright red ones with little Mickey Mouse heads on the sides. The most traumatic were the black frames that I picked out while not wearing any glasses, thus technically making them a “blind” decision.  Those were my “Where’s Waldo?” days in junior high. {shudder}

Eventually I was able to move on to hard contact lenses.  If the smallest particle of dust got in my eye, it was all over.  My eye would instantly seal shut, begin to water profusely, and when I could finally open it would be deep red.  Embarrassing stuff.  My friends have a particular episode that they will never let me live down. And no, I’m not going to share it here.  Luckily none of my high school friends know about my blog, otherwise they would be more than willing to share in the comments.  Plus don’t get me started on the times that I’ve lost a single contact and still had to go through my day half blind.

I’m sick of it all.  Hopefully one day I will have laser eye surgery done.

    lol i know how that feels. just the other day one contact decided to fall out and then i had to walk around with that eye shut or things would have looked so distorted and i would have gotten a headache. One day inshallah i'm counting on that laser eye surgery 😀

    @Eloquence, I've gone to school with one contact! I had no other choice. It was a very long week until my new contacts came in.
